Cody LaGrow is an Emmy and GLAAD award-winning journalist with a passion for fostering an understanding of people.

He is a national correspondent and producer with Scripps News and currently reporting for 'In Real Life' — a next-generation news magazine program that airs on Sundays at 8:00pm EST. He is also a fill-in anchor across the network. 

In addition to reporting, Cody puts his quick wit to work as host of 'Totally Cody' on ABC 7 Chicago's 'Windy City LIVE!' and co-hosts the city's Pride Parade for WLS. 

At Scripps, Cody has been an integral part of building the company. Since 2015, he developed one of the company's first series for streaming platforms, produced and hosted the company's first national cable morning show 'The Day Ahead,' and developed, produced and hosted its first national news magazine program, '30 Minutes With.'  

His candid interviewing style creates made-for-TV moments, including a viral interview with Dr. Anthony Fauci at the height of the pandemic and a 2023 GLAAD Award for Outstanding TV Journalism Segment for his work on "HIV In The Deep South."

Previously an associate producer at ABC's 'Good Morning America' in New York and local news reporter in Missouri, Cody currently lives in Chicago.

He is a member of the NLGJA, former military brat and a devout member of the BeyHive.

  • Crafted some of the first original reporting at Newsy, including a story on cultural insensitivity that garnered 6.8 million views on YouTube alone

  • Wrote, shot and produced packages for the nation’s most-viewed morning news program while working alongside the top names in entertainment, sports and politics

  • Managed breaking news at a network level and led production efforts on the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 in March 2014 and the Nepal Earthquake in April 2015

  • Adapted to new beats often and for prolonged periods like leading nightside production of the Boston Marathon bombing trial in March 2015

  • Collaborated with teams for Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and Nick Jonas to produce industry-standard entertainment packages
